This small 17th century house is listed by the former Department of the Environment as Grade II, of special interest. The listing describes it as timber-framed with colour-washed brick noggin (infill between the timbers), of one storey and attics with an old clay tile roof and one leaded casement. [HER6464].

The Rating and Valuation Act 1925 specified that every building and piece of land in the country was to be assessed to determine its rateable value. At this time the house was in "very, very poor" condition. Downstairs it had a living room, kitchen and pantry; upstairs were two bedrooms. Outside there were a timber and corrugated iron barn and an earth closet. The property was owned by Miss Horley and occupied by Miss A. Walker at a rent of 2s 3d per week [DV1/C85/52].
