The Bedfordshire Historic Environment Record [HER] contains information on the county's historic buildings and landscapes and summaries of each entry can now be found online as part of the Heritage Gateway website. Evidence for human activity is slight but some prehistoric finds have been made in the parish. Palaeolithictools, a lopsided Mesolithic or Neolithic arrow head and a broken Mesolithic or Neolithic flint knife were found in the garden of 4, Church Lane [HER 9846], and other Neolithic flint tools have been found near Church Lane and Goose Green [HER 9850, 9853].
A number ofBronze Age items have also been found in Hockliffe. Eight bronze ingots and a socketed axe fragment found north-west of Hockliffe Grange have been deposited at the British Museum [HER 18868]. Swords, ingots, an axehead and a ferrule were found at Church Farm in 2001 by a metal detector [HER 18786]. Regular searching of land at Church End by a member of the Bedfordshire Historical Search Society has turned up a complete socketed Bronze Age axe and two further socketed axes [HER 19436 and 19437].
