27 High Street, Green Hedges, was listed by English Heritage in August 1983 as Grade II, of special interest. The cottage dates from the 17th century. It was originally two cottages and is timber-framed with colour washed roughcast render. The structure comprises one storey and attics beneath a thatched roof. There is a lean-to addition at the west end and a thatched single storey addition at the other end.

The Rating and Valuation Act 1925 legislated that every property and piece of land in the country was to be assessed to determine its rateable value. The valuer visiting Green Hedges [DV1/C73/28-29] found that both dwellings were owned by K. Kent. The western dwelling was occupied by C. Lovell and that to the east by W. Hillson, both tenants paid rent of £5 per annum for a parlour, a living room and a pantry with two bedrooms in the attics.
