Rose Cottage was listed by the former Department of Environment in August 1983 as Grade II, of special interest. The listing dates it as 18th century and it is built of colour-washed roughcast over a timber frame with a thatched roof and comprises two storeys. The porch is late 20th century as is the tiled single storey with attics extension on the right hand side. 

The Rating and Valuation Act 1925 specified that every building and piece of land in the country was to be assessed to determine its rateable value. The valuer visiting the cottage [DV1/C211/73] found that it was owned by Miss A Woolston and tenanted by J Woolston at £6 per annum.

The cottage contained a kitchen and living room with two bedrooms above. A wood and tiled store barn and a wood and corrugated iron garage and tool house both stood outside.

In 2013 the cottage was for sale and the particulars [Z449/6/38] listed  a ground floor entrance hall; sitting room measuring 19 feet 11 inches by 12 feet 1 inch; dining room measuring 11 feet 9 inches by 8 feet 8 inches; W. C.; kitchen/breakfast room measuring 20 feet 10 inches by 9 feet 8 inches; study measuring 8 feet 5 inches by 7 feet  7 inches; garden room measuring 14 feet 6 inches by 8 feet 8 inches and bedroom measuring 15 feet 11 inches by 11 feet 11 inches. The first floor contained a dressing room; bathroom; and bedrooms measuring 13 feet 8 inches by 11 feet and 13 feet 5 inches by 10 feet 8 inches. A double garage and an oil storage tank both stood outside.
