The Manor of Risinghoe Grange

The arms of Warden Abbey
The arms of Warden Abbey

Volume III of The Victoria County History for Bedfordshire was published in 1912 and gives accounts of all the various manors in Goldington. This manor seems, like Puttenhoe Grange, to have been acquired by Warden Abbey, hence its title of a grange - a manor owned by a religious foundation. The abbey was dissolved by Henry VIII (1509-1547) in 1537 though Risinghoe Grange is not mentioned in the historical record after 1291 and so it is likely that it was merged into the Manor of Puttenhoe Grange.
