The Two Brewers Public House, Stotfold

Information taken from Stotfold Pubs and Publicans by Bert Hyde.

The Two Brewers opened in 1856 and was located on Hitchin Road. There had been four pairs of semi-detached cottages owned by a farmer, Bryan Gibbins. Sometime prior to 1856 the pair at the southern end were turned into one; this became The Two Brewers. On 26th June 1856 Simpson, the Baldock Brewers rented this the property for an agreement of 7 years. The following year Gibbins put it up for sale and it was purchased by Simpson who bought it for £250. In 1933 the building was demolished to make way for the current building. The pub underwent refurbishment in 2001 and 2011. The Two Brewers closed down suddenly on 24th December 2012. It was later converted into a private house and new houses were built on the car park and garden areas.
