The Bell Inn/The New Inn, Stotfold

Information taken from Stotfold Pubs and Publicans by Bert Hyde.

The Bell was in use as a pub since 1795 when it was put up for auction by the Lytton Family of Knebworth. The sale particulars said: "The Bell inn, Stotfold being an old established and well accustomed Drovehouse'. The Bell was rebuilt in the 1840s and renamed The New Inn in 1847. It ceased trading around 1870 and the building then became the farmhouse for Castle’s Farm. After 1928 it was called New Inn Farm which it kept until the 1980s when it was bulldozed to make way for a Little Chef.
