Newnham Manor Mill

Information taken from Stotfold Water Mills by Bert Hyde.

A mill was endowed to Newnham Manor between 1220 and 1260. Prior to this Simon Lidlington had granted to Newnham the rent of 4s.6d for the mill at the ford of Stotfold. In 1392 a confirmation by Thomas Lord Mowbray of grants of his ancestors to Newnham specifically mentions a rent of 4s.6d from the mill at the ford of Stotfold. From 1392 there is not further record of a mill at the ford and by 1519 the mill is not mentioned as part of possessions of Newnham Manor.
