The Chequers Public House, Stotfold

The Chequers Public House: 33 Queen Street, Stotfold

A pub has been located on this site, 33 Queen Street, since 1645. The majority of the present building is 19th century. The title deeds for this pub are held at Hertfordshire County Record Office as the pub was owned by Simpsons of Baldock Brewery. The title deeds date from 1611-1804. The pub was given a Grade II listing on 2nd January 1985. It remains open and is probably the oldest pub in Stotfold.
