On Friday morning the labourers resumed their work and a meeting of the principal inhabitants was held in the afternoon which was attended by J.G Fordham Esq. of Odsey, Herts, who had an extensive corn and seed mill in the village, Taylors Mill, which was threatened with destruction by the rioters and a communication of the circumstances was made to William Henry Whitbread Esq. of Southill who was the leading magristrate of the Biggleswade division of the county. According to The Times, "He acting with that promptness and decision which reflects the highest credit upon his as a magistrate took immediate measures for the apprehension of the ringleaders."
