The Cricketers Public House, Stotfold

Information taken from Stotfold Pubs and Publicans by Bert Hyde.

The Cricketers opened in 1838 and was located at 99 The Green. It had a six-day licence and was not open on Sundays. In 1897 Sarah Galer sold the pub to William Pickering of Baldock Brewery, they then sold it to Wells and Winch in 1904. It was listed in a sale catalogue for Baldock Brewery in 1903 [ref. GK1/36]. In 1904 it was described as a brick and slate house facing the cricket field with a tap room, parlour, living room and kitchen, lean-to cellar and larder, 3 bedrooms and storeroom, a yard with a wash house, a shed and a small farm and orchard. It closed in 1928.
