Bourne End Bletsoe
Bourne End Farm October 2009
Bourne End is the modern name for Bolnoe, later called Bolnoe End. This, like Whitwick, seems to be a deserted medieval settlement. The name Bolnoe means "Bolla's hill spur" and is first found in surviving documents in 1219 as Bolnoh. Bolla may be the same man recalled in the place name Bolnhurst. By the 18th century the name had changed to Bone End, later becoming Bourne End.
