2 Kensworth Road is a brick and slate 19th century building in a part of the road dominated by late 20th century houses. The Rating and Valuation Act 1925 specified that every piece of land and building in the country was to be assessed to determine the rates to be paid on it. Studham was assessed at the end of 1926 and the valuer visiting 2 Kensworth Road [DV1/C21/21] noted that it was then calledVictoria Cottage and Saint Dunstan's Home for blind ex-servicemen. Not surprisingly the occupied,N. Cheshire, was one of their patients.

The occupier was"Buying house by instalments £2/2/6 a month 5 more years before complete. Been here 6 years". His accommodation comprised a reception room and kitchen with two bedrooms above and was noted as "Good" by the valuer. Outside accommodation, in weather-boarding and corrugated iron, comprised a lean-to scullery, a workshop and coal barn and a wood shed.
