The Swan Public House: High Street, Tingrith 

The Swan public house is first mentioned in a register of alehouse licences from 1822 to 1828 [ref: CL/P13]. The building was a pub for around 150 years from the 1820s to 1977. The building is a whitewashed brick building from the early 19thh century.

In 1918 The Swan was sold as a lot in the sale of Tingrith Manor [ref: HN7/1/TIN1]. It is noted as being leased to Morris & Co, Ampthill.

In 1922 The Swan was leased from Stewart Butler Hubbard for 14 years [ref: WB/Green4/1/VP11].

The pub closed on 27th October 1977 and is now a private building and named ‘The Old Swan House’.
