Rose Cottage, 2 Church Road, Tingrith

Rose Cottage is located at 2 Church Road, Tingrith and is an early 19th century estate cottage. It is rendered, with a tile rood and has decorated barge board to the gable ends and a gabled porch.

The Rating and Valuation Act 1925 specified that every building and piece of land in the country was to be assessed to determine its rateable value. The valuer visiting the property [ref: DV1/C240/26] found that it was, like much of the village, owned by S Hubbard. The tenant was A Gurney whose rent was £6/10/- per annum for a living room, a kitchen and a washhouse with two bedrooms on the first floor. There was also an outside scullery and a brick, wood and slate coal barn.
