The Rating and Valuation Act 1925 specified that every building and piece of land in the country was to be assessed to determine its rateable value. The valuer visiting the property [ref: DV1/C240/21] found that, like most of the village, it was owned by S Hubbard. The tenant was J Clark who paid no rent.

Accommodation comprised two living rooms, a kitchen and a parlour downstairs with four bedrooms above. A wood and slate coal barn and washhouse stood outside. The valuer noted: “Next to Estate Yard”.
