The Rating and Valuation Act 1925 specified that every building and piece of land in the country was to be assessed to determine its rateable value. Stevington was assessed in 1926 and the valuer visiting 18-22 West End [DV1/C120/108-110] noted that the terrace was owned by Miss M. Hulatt. Number 18 was vacant, Number 20 was occupied by W. Bowyer at £1/4/- per quarter and Number 22 by W. Hardwick at the same rent, sent twenty years before.

Each cottage comprised a living room and kitchen downstairs with two bedrooms above and a barn and earth closet outside. The valuer noted that the terrace had been built in 1839.
