Rowney Grange Manor
Until the suppression of Warden Abbey on 4 December 1537, Rowney was a grange belong to the Abbey. The first and only mention of the ‘Manor of Rowney or Rowndhey’ appears in the Court of Augmentations accounts for 1537/38. Although Rowney Grange is included as a manor by the National Archives’ in its Manorial Documents Register this appears to be due only to this single reference, and there is no evidence to suggest that Rowney Grange ever functioned as a legal manor.
