Primitive Methodism in Chawston

There has never been any Methodist chapel in Chawston but minutes from the Saint Neots Primitive Methodist Quarterly Meeting [MB1224] show that one was planned. On 1st March 1864 it was reported: "That this meeting approves of a chapel being built at Chawson [sic] and as soon as a piece of land can be obtained that Mr. Oliver draw out a plan of specifications etc. according to Rule to lay before the London Bretheren".

On 31st May it was noted: That this meeting approve of a piece of ground situated at Chawson to build a chapel on and that it be secured if it can be obtained". No more is said about Chawston so presumably the land could not be obtained. The Primitives then seem to have turned their attention to Wyboston instead, the land for which was purchased in 1867.
