Letter from Kenya

This is the July 1925 issue of the Luton Modern School magazine, which published excerpts of a letter sent by R G Smart, Captain of the Rugby XV, to the Headmaster, describing his time in Kenya.[ref.SDLutonSFC2/20].

Why is this document at Bedfordshire & Luton Archives?

SDLutonSFC is a collection of Records of Luton 6th Form College, incorporating Luton Modern School and Luton Grammar School.  The school magazines typically include examination results, sporting and concert notes, notes of the Old Lutonians' Club, and personal notes and news, occasional lists of boys joining and leaving. Named photographs of sports teams and prefects occur from the early 1930s, stop during the wartime period, recommence in the 1950s and decline again in the mid-1960s. The magazine also includes news from the various school (later college) clubs, poetry, short stories and reports of visits overseas.
