H.C. Janes carrying a young native boy, during his visit to the Congo while Baptist Missionary Society chairman in 1949-50. The image was made into a postcard for the Baptist Medical Mission Birthday Fund 1949-50. [ref.JN117]

Sir Herbert Charles Janes [1884 - 1977] was the founder & chairman of H C Janes Limited, builders & civil engineers, Luton. He was also President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain & Ireland. The JN collection includes his correspondence and holiday diaries, papers from his church activities, including the Baptist Missionary Society, his work in local government and records of his business.
