Methodists in Haynes

Originally Wesleyan.The first Methodist chapel was built in 1826/27. A bargain and sale was made for a piece of ground on Silver Lane for the erection of a chapel for the Society of Methodists on 6th December 1826 [ref: X422/3]. A new chapel opened 1875 and was registered by Wesleyan Minister Hugh Jones on 30th March 1875. The church was still active as of 2013.

The Circuits for Haynes Methodist Chapel were: Bedford Wesleyan to c.1829; Bedford and Ampthill c.1829-1875; Bedford St Mary's 1875-1942; Bedford South 1942-1971; Bedford South and Ampthill 1971-2010; North Bedfordshire from 2010.
