Hatch Before 1086

The Bedfordshire Historic Environment Record [HER] lists all known prehistoric, Roman and Anglo-Saxon sites and find spots in the county. It is now on-line as part of the Heritage Gateway website.

Whilst a number of prehistoric features have been identified in nearby Brook End only a single ring ditch [HER 15093] north of the hamlet has been identified in Hatch. Ring ditches are, as the name suggests, circular, or roughly circular ditches which may, for example, be the remains of circular huts or round barrows. They are usually ascribed to the Bronze Age.
