22-24 High Street

First known reference occurs in 1823/4 when William Markwell Dawson, a Tailor and Draper is mentioned in Pigots Directory. He remains until C1876. In 1881 William Timson Wood, also a Tailor, is in occupation. Having expanded the business to include No 24 in 1898, the family business remains until 1929. 

In 1930 “Jons”,  Gown and Blouse Specialists, have taken over and are trading until 1949/50.From 1952 Milletts Stores (St Pauls) Ltd, outfitters are the new owners and are in business until 1976. 

Latterly “Clued Up Clothing” and “Beauty of Ashes”, Clothing and Beauty Salon were trading in 2008 while Adana Turkish Grill are in current occupation as of 2023.

2008: “Clued Up Clothing” and “Beauty of Ashes”, Clothing and Beauty Salon

2023: Adana Turkish Grill, Restaurant
