This property was researched by John Thurston.

Initially a grocers shop first mentioned in 1850 with George (William Plevy) Timaeus the trader. The family would run the business under George, his son Charles W and then his widow Ellen until 1902.

In 1903 Basil Owen Clement, a taxidermist, is shown as the next occupant. The premises are then vacant or not listed from 1904 – 1907. In 1908 Harry Eastwood, a Woollen Merchant, takes over, staying until 1934.

Cyril R Jones, an insurance broker, is listed for a single year in 1936 before George James White appears in Directories from 1938 - 1947.

White is listed as an estate agent and is also the area secretary for the National Federation of Builders Merchants.

No 14A also appears from 1938 – 1961 with tenants and an ironmonger (see below). From 1947 – 1965 the main occupant is the Halifax Building Society. In 1966 Philip A Barnes, Insurance Brokers, take over until 1976 with Woodfine and Company, Solicitors and Commissioners of Oaths at 14A joining them from 1968 – 1974.

In recent times Howorths, jewellers, were in occupation for 25 years from 1998 – 2023 with the listed company at No 14 currently being Data2Vault Ltd, a Data Protection and Security Company.
