113 High Street

It is likely that No 113 was built in the late 1860’s/early 1870’s with its first occupant being John Richard Bennett, draper, who had previously been listed at No 75, No 77 and No 99 High Street. He would stay until 1885. Ezra Braggins would take over the business around 1887.

Around 1888/1890 the new draper would be Walter Blott who along with his son would continue to trade up until at least 1940. Richard Shops (J.S.R. Proprietors), Ladies Outfitters, Gowns and Costume Suppliers were the new owners from 1947 until at least 1976. From 1955 onwards they shared the premises with a number of other businesses which are listed below.

In recent times the Salvation Army Charity Shop has been on site from 2008 – 2024.
