The Bedfordshire Historic Environment Record [HER] contains information on the county’s historic buildings and landscapes and summaries of each entry can now be found online as part of the Heritage Gateway website. A neolithic hand axe was found at Jackman's Farm and is now held by The Higgins [HER 14763].
A trial excavation in north Brickhill [HER 18894] showed scattered archaeological artefacts from the early and middle Iron Age. These included pits and ditches, animal remains and pot sherds from around Jackman’s Farm and Freeman’s Common. There seems to have then been no further activity in the area until the Middle Ages.
A Roman spindlewhorl was found at 60 Hawk Drive [HER 4235]. It was made from the base of a pot dating to the 1st or 2nd century.
