Welcome to Bedford Borough Council

Staploe

We have not yet been able to compile comprehensive history pages for Staploe, although we do have one page currently available.

If you would like to carry out research and contribute to this site we would be delighted to hear from you.

Staploe is located approximately 11 miles north-east of Bedford on the border with Cambridgeshire. Until 1965 Staploe was a hamlet of Eaton Socon, but it became a civil parish in 1965 incorporating former hamlets of Eaton Socon - Basmead Manor, Beggary (or Begwary), Bushmead, Cadbury Manor, Duloe, Honeydon, Little End and Upper Staploe. Eaton Socon itself was moved into the town of St Neots, then in Huntingdonshire and now in Cambridgeshire, but many of the historic archives for the town remain at Bedfordshire Archives.
