Golf
There are over 20 golf clubs in the county. This plan from 1924 shows the proposed addition to the ladies' club house at what used to be the Bedfordshire club in Biddenham, now the Ouse Valley. Note the cart track to the golf club stables. (ref: RDBP1/787).
The Ladies County Championship was played at venues across the county. The ladies also played at golf tournaments around the country and each match was recorded in the records of the Bedfordshire Ladies County Golf Association (ref: Z1425/2/1)

The best known Bedfordshire golfing great was Henry Longhurst, seen here in an exhibition match with Henry Cotton in 1944. Son of Harry Longhurst of Longhurst & Skinner, Henry became a renowned golf writer and commentator, and was senior golf commentator for the BBC from the late 1950s until his death in 1978.
