Timeline of Events in Wingfield

1334:  Wingfield Manor is first mentioned. 

1833: Wingfield Methodist chapel is built. 

1854: The old Methodist chapel is replaced. 

1940: Three small bombs dropped in fields at the top of Lords' Hill and Bird's Farm, Wingfield and a HE bomb dropped in field at Brook Farm, Wingfield; one cow a casualty. (31 Aug)

1940: 18 HE bombs dropped including:  1 at Long Row cottages, Wingfield; 1 in field at Sleckney's Farm, Wingfield; 1 demolishing nos 8 and 9 Crabtree Cottages (nos 6 and 7 requiring later demolition), Wingfield; 2 in Sleckney's Park Field, Wingfield; 3 in Beletts Field, Wingfield; 4 at Birds Farm, Wingfield; 2 in Bakers Field, Dunkers Farm, Tebworth; (unexploded); 3 minor casualties and 1 casualty taken to hospital; (3 Oct 1940)

1980 - The Plough public house and 36 Tebworth Road is grade II listed.
