Hulcote Before 1086

The Bedfordshire Historic Environment Record [HER] contains information on the county's historic buildings and landscapes and summaries of each entry can now be found online as part of the Heritage Gateway website. There are two mentions of early occupation in Hulcote.

In 1977 the occupant of Holcotmoors Farm stated that sherds were found when a sump was dug. They were sent to London for dating and were said to be "very early" – presumably meaning prehistoric [HER 8393].

North of Salford Road in a field called is a cropmark [HER 16490]. It appears to represent a prehistoric enclosure, no more accurate dating is possible due to a lack of artefacts from the site.
