From Eversholt to Ontario

Many Bedfordshire families left in the 19th Century to seek a more prosperous life abroad.

This list is of contributors to an Eversholt fund, organised by the Vicar Rev William S Baker,  to pay for the emigration of William Odell & family, Abel Chew & family and Thomas Valentine and his family to Ontario in Canada in 1874.

Contributions for emigration from Eversholt

Why is this document at Bedfordshire & Luton Archives?

This is part of the Eversholt Parish collection. We are the Diocesan Record Office for Bedfordshire and hold the early records of all the parish churches in the County. In addition to the registers of baptisms, marriages and burials there are the papers of the churchwardens, overseeers of the poor and parochial church councils, records of the buildings and land of the church, and numerous other douments in these collections.
