95 High Street was listed by the former Department of Environment in June 1974 as Grade II, of special interest. The house dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. The main block is timber-framed with roughcast on the south-west gable end, has an old clay tiled roof and comprises two storeys. The north-east block is part colour-washed roughcast over a timber frame with an asbestos roof and comprises one storey and attics.

The Rating and Valuation Act 1925 specified that every building and piece of land in the country was to be assessed to determine its rateable value. The valuer visiting the property [DV1/C217/18] found it owned and occupied by farmer Mrs Priscilla Howard, whose family member lived at Number 93 and who owned the farm buildings behind that small cottage.

The house comprised two reception rooms, a kitchen, a scullery and pantry with three bedrooms above. The valuer noted: "Old bedrooms used as store". A brick and tiled washhouse lay outside. The valuer commented: "Very varied old property, front deceptive" having noted earlier "good front".
