Early Licensees in Pulloxhill

The 18th century parish registers for Pulloxhill are very good at listing victuallers, innkeepers and alesellers. It is a shame that the entries do not name the establishments in each case but it is likely that at least some of the following licensees ran the Cross Keys and the Chequers as well as The Old Bell in Greenfield. It is possible that the mysterious may also belong to this period. The first known licensee of the Chequers (in 1822) was John Irons and the first known licensee of the Cross Keys, in the same year, was Frances Day.
