Fir Tree Cottage March 2016
Fir Tree Cottage March 2016

Fir Tree Cottage probably dates from the 18th century and is of brick construction, covered in render, with a thatched roof. It comprises one storey with attics and has a 20th century porch. It is not listed.

The Rating and Valuation Act 1925 specified that every building and piece of land in the country was to be assessed to determine its rateable value. The valuer visiting the cottage [DV1/C213/36] found it owned and occupied by Mrs H Wise. It stood in just under one third of an acre and comprised a living room, kitchen, two “small rooms used as store” and two bedrooms. A wood and thatched coal barn and a store barn both stood outside.
