Beeston Before 1086

Sandy is quite rich in prehistoric sites and finds. Beeston, by contrast, has only one possible prehistoric site. The Bedfordshire Historic Environment Record [HER] lists all the historic buildings and landscape features as well as find spots in the county. Summaries of each entry are available inline as part of the Heritage Gateway website.

The HER records regular linear cropmarks north of Brook End and so close to the boundary with Northill [HER 625]. These are visible on aerial photographs and indicate a large enclosure and a rectilinear field system. They may be prehistoric but cannot be more accurately dated without artefacts found in situ.
