2010 Accessions to Archives

Below are just some of the thousands of new archives received by the Archives Service in the last year. All have to be accessioned, listed, indexed and packaged for permanent preservation. All of the following records deposited here are catalogued and indexed on our online database and most are available to view in the searchroom . There are some restrictions on access for records less than 100 years old which contain personal details. Some collections of archives are Countywide, while other deposits cover towns and villages in all three of our funding authorities—Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire & Luton Borough. We are working hard to list the many other deposits of records made last year. In addition to the records listed below we received a further 80 boxes of archives and 240 rolls of architects plans so please be patient with us! We have also added more than 18,500 catalogue descriptions previously only available in typewritten catalogues in the searchroom to our online database.
