Village Hall September 2007
Village Hall September 2007

Broom Village Hall was built some time between 1901 (as it does not appear on the Ordnance Survey 25 Inches to the Mile 2nd Edition map) and 1927 when it was valued under the terms of the Rating Valuation Act 1925; every piece of land and building in the country was assessed to determine the rates to be paid on it.

The valuer visiting the Assembly Hall [DV1/C153/15] noted that it was owned by the Assembly Hall Trustees and was made out of corrugated iron on a brick foundation. The hall measured 50 feet by 25 feet and had a library measuring 10 feet by 11½ . The valuer commented: "Used for concerts, dances, social evenings and church socials. Ugly".
