Heritage Open Days! Bedfordshire Archives will also be open for guided tours on Thursday 7th and Saturday 9th September as part of the national Heritage Open Days event. The tours will give an opportunity to look behind-the-scenes at the Archives on days when the service is normally closed to the public. Visitors will be able to learn how the Archives cares for the county's documentary heritage, see the specialist storage areas and watch demonstrations of archive conservation. The tours will give an extra opportunity to view the reception exhibition on evacuees, together with other displays illustrating Bedfordshire’s long history of welcoming refugees and other migrants. Tours will take place at half-hourly intervals between 10am and 12pm and between 2pm and 4pm and will last around 45 minutes. They can be booked in advance by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or telephoning 01234 228833.
